Psalm 68:6 NIV
God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
Have you ever been lonely? Have you ever been surrounded by people yet felt completely alone? I think at some point or another we all have experienced that in our lives. Loneliness is not comfortable nor is it the way that God intended us to feel. Instead his will is that we fully grasp and live in the understanding we are never alone as long as we are in him.
I love the verse that says, “He sets the lonely in families.” I think that has always stood out to me in my life because my dad adopted me as his daughter when he married my mom. Therefore, I grew up with a brother, sister, and a very large extended family. Today, I have a family of my own. I have three children and a faithful husband. The family and people God put in my life were brought by his goodness and love for me. It is human nature to have moments of feeling lonely, but when we become a new creation in Christ, we have a deep understanding, an important grasp, that loneliness is not God’s design for our lives. We are here to comfort each other, to be with one another, to celebrate the highs, and hold hands through the hard.
Look at creation in its original design. After God created the heavens and the earth, He created Adam and a helpmate, Eve. Adam was lonely, and it wasn’t good for Him to be alone. So you see, since the very beginning of time we are set up to live life together.
I would suggest that if you find yourself feeling lonely, reach out and be the voice in someone else's life. Sometimes I think it is so easy to get lost and caught up in our own to-do list we forget to check on our neighbor. Life is but a breath so I want my breath to matter while it lasts. Make yours matter because you certainly matter.
